Sepia-tone group photo: Contract No. 3. North Tunnel, west of Spring Street shaft, New York, Inspection Party. Feb. 10, 1925, 1:50 p.m.
Digital image only; original print 8" x 10" wide. Photographer not indicated; negative number not present in image, but other copies have no. 5548 (see notes). Front has modern ink note on image, "Dad," beneath the third man from left, front row: John C. McEnroe (ee below.) Reverse has holographic ink signatures: Mary C. Caffrey, Mary Caffrey (per McEnroe family members, she is believed to have been McEnroe's secretary.) Other men have not been identified at this time.
This image is from the personal papers of John C. McEnroe who was the Secretary of the New Jersey Interstate Bridge and Tunnel Commission. It was the New Jersey authority cooperating with a New York Commission for overseeing the project. He died on June 2, 1925. Print was an enclosure in a photograph album, photo catalog 2012.017.0001, where there is another copy of same image printed with the file number and a typewritten caption on the linen mount back. Full caption was:
