Description

Sepia-tone photo of apartment buildings on west side of Washington St.(?) with bullet hits marked, Hoboken, no date, circa 1926-1932. 8" x 10" high print. Photograph by R. Magnus (emboss at lower right.) Reverse is blank. Note in the detail photo the three chalked circles with arrows outlining the spots where apparently bullets left marks on the bricks to the right of the center building's entrance. Streetcar tracks in center lane with paving stones (or cobblestones) are consistent with how Washington Street looked in this era. Exact location of this group of five story residential buildings has not been established. Rooftop aerials for radios. Two automobiles. This photo is from an accession group that consists of photographs from Hoboken Police Department records. Discarded in the 1990s, the original documentary purpose of this photo is not stated or apparent.
