Description

Sepia-tone photo of twins Georg & Elisabeth Widenmann wearing costumes and posed in photographer's studio, 'Februar' [February], 1910. Carte-de-visite, trimmed three sides not affecting image. Photograph by W. [William] Manewal, 520 Washington St., Hoboken (imprinted on lower mount.) Reverse has holographic ink identifications and date. The pair were born in Hoboken, March 23, 1901, making them eight years old in this photo. Event or occasion not known. (Information on the brother and sister being twins and their birth date provided 2013 by relative, Judy Boylan.) The spelling of their first names and the use of "Februar" suggests their heritage. Father? Adolph Widenmann, 905 Castle Point Terrace (found in 1911 Boyd's Directory.) The costumes including wigs appear to be 18th century style French. They may have possibly been rented from United Decorating Company of Hoboken.
