Sepia tone photo of Mildred Avantario posed for graduation photo, Hoboken, no date, circa May or June 1943. 4" x 6" print in photographer's frame, 5-7/8" wide x 8-1/2" high. Photograph taken by The Paap Studio, P. Morrone, Proprietor, 301 First St., Hoboken (as stamped on frame.) Reverse of photo has not been examined; matte is adhered to mount. Frame does not have a graduation diploma motif.
While the girl is not identified on this item, it accompanied a June 1940 autograph album (archives 2009.006.0071) belonging to Avantario that was used for inscriptions by well wishers on her graduation on June 24, 1940 from Joseph F. Brandt Junior High School. Another photograph, 2009.006.0074, also accompanied this photo and the album. It is also apparently Avantario a few years earlier when she was graduating from Brandt and thus ca. 14-16 years old. Her age in this photo would appear correct for being three years later and about to graduate from high school (whether public or parochial has not been established) in Hoboken.
The back of the display easel frame has several blind embossed patent numbers, the latest of which was issued April 29, 1941.Acquisition
