A cream-colored envelope addressed to Ludwig Basch. Two circular postmarks are stamped over two blue "20" Norwegian postage stamps at the top in the center of the envelope but the date of posting is unclear. A third stamp that was in the upper right corner has been carefully removed and is missing. There is a blue, white and yellow flag of the Hamburg Amerika Line against a blue-grey background cloud in the upper left corner of the envelope. The words "Hamburg Amerika Linie" are written above the flag. the number "22" has been written in red pencil in the lower right corner. There is no other return address but there is a faint circular black postmark on the reverse flap of the envelope. The envelope is empty and it is unclear what it held.
