Light blue/grey airmail envelope with a Munich postmark addressed to Ludwig Ballin in New York City from a prisoner he had treated in Dachau (see ObjectIDs 538.40.1-2.2023 for the letter). Year on postmark is not legible, possibly 1940. Two postage stamps, one purple/magenta, one blue, are glued vertically on the front. A cream-colored censorship label of the Third Reich is glued across the back of the envelope. The same small purple rectangle that has been stamped on each page of the letter, inside of which is stamped "531", is also stamped just above the left corner of the censorship label.
