Scope and Content
Light blue air mail envelope with dark blue lining addressed to Ludwig Ballin in New York City from an incomplete address in the Netherlands. Postmark date is 10-4-41 and the postage is stamped onto the envelope rather than being a postage stamp that required licking to affix. Over the postmark is typed "VIA CLIPPER". There is a cream label affixed to the back of the envelope with two circular Nazi eagle and swastika stamps, one black and one red, indicating that the letter was opened by censors. "1575" is stamped in a small purple rectangular box on the back of the envelope. There are light pencil notations along the lower edge of the front of the envelope. The envelope contained ObjectID 538.100.1.2023.
