Page 1 of 3 of partial drafts of a handwritten letter in ink that Ludwig Ballin was composing to correct an error on p. 180 in “Adolf Hitler,” a biography by John Toland. Ludwig also notes that “no source is mentioned” in the note on p. 551 of the first volume. The letter is written on both sides of the sheet and contains numerous cross-outs and rewording. The top of the reverse side of this page contains three lists of what appear to be currency amounts and totals but context is unclear.
Ludwig goes on to briefly outline how Goering, wounded in the “Hitlerputsch”, was brought to his Uncle Robert’s house on November 9, 1923. He was treated there and later his men came and put Goering in a waiting car which took him across the “frontier” into Austria. Robert Ballin's help in this incident was not forgotten by Goering and i believed to have helped the Ballin family escape Germany prior to the mass deportations of Jews.
