Handwritten letter in English, on two sides of the sheet of paper. The letter on the front is from Annemarie Ballin in New York to Doctor and Mrs. Richards in England, dated October 5, 1940 thanking them for all they did in caring for Eva while the Ballins tried to arrange their escape from Germany to the U.S. Ludwig has written his own letter of thanks on the back. Date is assumed to be MM-DD-YY because Eva is still in school in England in the summer of 1940. By the fall she has sailed to America.
