Typed letter on Cox & Stevens letterhead dated July 20, 1923 to Martin Ballin in Munich from Irving Cox in New York (brother of David Cox) authorizing the outfitting of a vessel. There is a b&w image of a diesel motor yacht in a rectangle at the top center of the page. To the left of that image, the company advertises as "NAVAL ARCHITECTS MARINE ENGINEERS", to the right as "YACHT BROKERS MARINE INSURANCE". The letter suggests some of the history of the relationship between the Cox brothers and the Ballins and suggests that that relationship is how the Cox brothers came to help the Ballins leave Germany. On the back, in the lower right corner, is written in pencil "218".
