A real photo postcard, "An Oil Gusher at Long Beach, Calif., Black Drake #1, General Petroleum Co.," 21 January 1922. The image shows a huge volume of crude roaring from a shattered derrick into the sky at the lower left. Observers stand throughout the scene and there are a few other derricks, tanks and the like, and a couple of trees in view, as well. The caption is in white at the bottom. The unused card has browning, soiling, some small stains and edge abrasions, but is in good overall condition.Lexicon
