Description

"GEOLOGIC FORMATIONS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE OIL AND GAS FIELDS OF CALIFORNIA" Color: Black; Brown "Geologic Formations and Economic Development of the Oil and Gas Fields of California" compiled by Olaf P. Jenkins (Reprint edition, San Francisco: State of California, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mines,) 1948. The 773-page hardcover book is a reprint of the 1943 edition. The cover has the title, bulletin number of 118, the state atuhorities involved and the location specifically of the Division of Mines. This is basically repeated on the spine. A list of dozens of authors is at the front of the work, which consists of four parts: the development of the oil and gas industries; California's geology and the occurrence of gas and oil; descriptions of individual fields, with chapter eight covering the Los Angeles area, including Montebello, where the Temple lease was; and glossaries, bibliography, and index. There are many tables, charts, and foldout maps in the book and one map from the back pocket, which is item .2 of the accession. For a preprint of part II of the bulletin, from 1941, see item 2003.213.1.1. With cover rubbing to the corners and edges, slight creasing at the corners and the top of the back cover, minor page yellowing, and some cover wear, the overall condition is good.
