"1030, Carmelita, Giant Banksia Rose Bush," Parker, ca. 1900. The image shows a large Lady Banks rose bush on the grounds of the famed residence, now the site of the Norton Simon Museum of Art in Pasadena. There are two inscriptions, one of which appears to be a misnumbering and, though the photographer is not identified, image 1031 which is item 1.3 in this accession, is by Parker. The other, which also appears on the sleeve, also indicates that Carmelita was the site where Helen Hunt Jackson wrote the novel "Ramona." While the sleeve is in two separate pieces and in very poor shape, the negative appears to be in good condition.
