"14. Fort St., Los Angeles," H. T. Payne, Los Angeles, ca. 1875. The view shows mostly the residential district south of downtown with Fort (now Broadway) in the foreground and the view extending to the southeast. There are some commercial buildings and what appears to be the construction site of St. Vibiana's Cathedral, but most structures are residential. Payne's name and the series name of "Southern California Scenery" are printed on the mount while the number and title are written in ink at the bottom right. With stains, soiling and edge rubbing to the mount, the condition is fair to good.
