Description

A bridge lamp (a) with silk shade (b). The lamp is made of base metal and painted gold. The post has a twisted pattern while the bridge has a cast design. On the top of the stand is a cast figure of a knight on horseback and a knight's helmet finial. The openwork metal base is resting on four leaf-like points. There is a modern plastic electrical cord and modern metal light socket. The lamp is in fair condition with the base metal showing through in places on the post and bridge and more extensive wear showing through on the lamp base. The lampshade is of shantung silk stretched over a wire frame with synthetic gold braid trim. It is in good condition with little indication of wear. Donated by HM docent Ruth Benell.
