Description

A stereoscopic photograph, "196. Hollenbeck Home from Hollenbeck Park, Los Angeles," W.E. Warren, Son and Company, San Jose, ca. 1890s. The image is taken from across the lake at the southeastern portion of the park, two-thirds of which was donated by Boyle Heights founder William H. Workman, looking at the mansion of the late John E. Hollenbeck and his wife Elizabeth Hatsfeldt, who donated the other third of the park property. The residence is now the core of the Hollenbeck Palms retirement home, long known as the Hollenbeck Home for the Aged. With a large stain across the right image at the upper left not affecting the image, edge bumping and soiling, the condition is good.
