Description

A stereoscopic photograph, black and white "20579. Tropical Verdure in Chester Place, The Aristocratic Residential District, Los Angeles, Cal., U.S.A.," C. L. Wasson, published by International Stereograph Company, Decatur, Illinois, 1906. The image is taken from a sidewalk and takes in part of the walk and street, but focuses on palm trees and shrubs in the grass median between the two. None of the houses can be seen in the tract developed by Nathan Vail in 1899 and named for his son. The most famous residence at Number 8 was that of oil magnate Edward Doheny. With minor soiling and abrasion, the condition is good.
