"21478. Auditorium, Fifth and Hill Streets, Los Angeles, California," ca. 1920s. The view is taken from a nearby building at the east of the northeast corner of Pershing Square at Fifth and Hill and looks northwest towards a row of buildings along Fifth, including the Auditorium Theater, later known as Clune's Auditorium and the Philharmonic Auditorium, on the northeast corner of Fifth and Olive. This structure was designed by Charles Whittlesey, architect of the E. P. Bryan residence in item .3 of this accession. Also of note are streetcars, automobiles and pedestrians on Fifth, while, at the far left in the distance, is the tower of the former Normal School, later razed for the Central Public Library. On the reverse is the inscription in pen that serves as the title. With some soiling and edge abrasions, the condition is good.
