Description

"226069. San Gabriel River Valley Calif., Silver fox ranch of R.T. Moore, Two of the foxes," by International Newsreel Corp., New York, 1920s. The view is a closeup of a man in a suit, presumably Robert T. Moore, holding a silver fox, while a man in overalls in the background holds another animal. There is a third man behind Moore and what may be a vehicle and a building in the background, though the focus on the foreground makes the blackground blurry. The title is in pencil and there is a stamp by the publisher. The ranch was actually near Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, where Moore, who'd had a successful silver fox ranch in Maine, opened his establishment in 1922. See 2007.169.1.2 for a related image. With curving of the paper, a scratch across the image horizontally, some creases, and edge wear, the overall condition is fair.
