"228. Angels Flight, L.A.," unattributed, ca. 1900s. The view looks west from the north side of Third Street, east of Hill, and takes in portions of commercial and residential structures in the foreground and on Bunker Hill, as well as the Third Street Tunnel, and the Angels Flight funicular railway, at the left of the tunnel. At the top of the hill is the tall observation tower associated with the railway, which opened in 1901. With a missing section and darkened areas (burned, possibly) at the lower right of the mount, heavy fading,soiling and abrasions, the overall condition is fair to poor.Lexicon
