STEREOSCOPIC PHOTOGRAPH, "3048. MAIN ST., LOS ANGELES, FROM TEMPLE BLOCK," probably Payne, Stanton & Co., Los Angeles, ca. 1882. The view is from the Temple Block looking northward, including many commercial structures, such as the Downey Block (lower left) and Baker Block (center right). In the distance is the Plaza area, while in the far background are the Verdugo Hills. The photographer is assumed from the similarity in the numbering system and captioning to .1 in this accession. With heavy staining, edge and corner wear and some small torn sections, the condition is fair.Lexicon
