"3132. A Train Robber Holding Up a Train," by Enno Nesemann, Marysville, California, ca. 1888. The humorous staged photo shows a man impersonating a robber lifting up (holding up) the train of a dress of a woman standing ahead of the man on a railroad track. The caption is at the bottom right and is badly faded with most words discernible, but the title is a guess. On the reverse is Nesemann's stamp, as well as a label from a store in Portland, Oregon. Because of the fading and edge rubbing, soiling, and wear to the matte, the condition is poor.Lexicon
