Description

"4362 Pico House Los Angeles," by Carleton Watkins, ca. 1880. Part of his "New Series," the image is from the opposite side of Main Street to the southwest, looking back towards the Pico House's west facade, at the left, and the Merced Theater and Masonic Lodge at the right, as well as a portion of the structure to the right of the lodge. At the lower left, across from the Plaza, is a portion of an adobe building. The identification number and title are at the lower right and Watkins' carthouche is at the left and right margins. With some small stains, soiling, edge rubbing, and, on the right image, brush-like lines, the overall condition is good.
