"California Blue Book or State Roster 1928," compiled by Frank C. Jordan (Sacramento: California State Printing Office,) 1928. The 562-page hardcover book has blue cloth boards with the title and year on the front and spine in gold lettering. Contents include a foreword by Secretary of State Jordan, reprinting of the act authorizing the book and sections on the act of admission of California into the Union; the constitutional history of the state; its governmental organization; the executive department of elective and appointed officers; the executive branch and its various departments; legislative members; judicial officers; state counties; California's resources and development; city governments including their classification and officers; federal officials; the governments of states, territories, and islands; foreign consuls in California; legal holidays in the state; a statement of votes received in recent elections; consitutional and statutory provisions for direct legislation and its history and vote. An index is at the back. There are photos, mostly of elected officials, and some charts and tables. With cover and spine rubbing; dented corners on the covers; some cover surface soiling; page yellowing; cover stains and fingerprint marks on pages; and tears to the cover and spine fabric at edges, the general condition is good.Lexicon
