Description

Color: Black; Blue; Red; White "Good Housekeeping," published by the International Magazine Company, Inc., March 1929. The 316-page magazine has with the title, date, and price at the top of the front. At the center is a color illustration of a toddler playing with wooden alphabet blocks. At the bottom is a title of a featured article and the name of six contributing authors and the name of the cover artist, Jessie Willcox Smith, is at the bottom right. Contents include an editor's page; eight pieces of fiction; eight special articles on marraige, fathers, dogs, the sister of the Vice-President, and new books among others; five items in the "Good Housekeeping Institute" involving home economics issues; four items in the "Good Housekeeping Studio" concerning house decorating; an article on children; an article on a proposed national institute of health; six special service features; four items of poetry; and several fashion-related pieces. There are many photographs and drawings, and advertisements for household goods are also included. In good condition, the artifact has spine rubbing; acid burns on the last page from contact with the back cover; light cover creases; small dents at the top right corner of the front cover; surface soiling on the cover; page yellowing; losses at the top and bottom of the spine; cover stains; and tears on the cover edges and top and bottom of the spine.
