Description
"4822. Cogswell's Sierra Madre Villa, W. P. Rhoades, Lessee, Los Angeles Co., Cal.," by Carleton Watkins, ca. 1880. The New Series card shows the front facade of most of the main dwelling at the hotel resort located in modern northeast Pasadena and the subdivision of the same name. Two children stand on a walk amidst a lawn and garden in front of the Eastlake-style two-story structure. With some heavy soiling, a circular stain on the right image, mount curvature and edge rubbing, the condition is fair.
