Description

Color: Green; Purple; White "McCall Quarterly," spring 1928 issue. The periodical has a front cover image of two women standing near a Parisian scene--one wears a green and the other a purple knee-length dress, and cloche hats. The woman on the left has a mink fur wrapped around her shoulders. The pattern numbers corresponding to these costumes are listed at the bottom. The title is at the top in purple letters, with the periodical date at the top of the image. At the bottom is the phrase "ADVANCE PARIS SPRING STYLES." Inside are many examples of dress patterns, providing the item number, recommended age for wearers (most of which are adolescent or younger), and the bust size. Color illustrations accompany these descriptions with more information on each provided at the bottom of pages. Occasionally, there are pencil inscriptions indicating which ones were either owned or desired by the owner, whose name is on the front cover. In poor condition, the object has a brittle cover; frequent creasing on the cover; dented corners; soiled covers; losses along the spine (perhaps insect or rodent damage); a musty smell; stains; tears on the cover and a few pages; and general wear.
