Description

Color: Black; Blue; Green; Yellow; Purple; Red; White A gameboard for the game "Pirate and Traveler," 1936, with a 1911 copyright for the original game. The board is three panels with a red border, and the board has a map of the world. Continents, or sub-areas within them, are color-coded, so that Asia and Canada are blue, Europe and South America are yellow, Africa and the United State are pink; Australia is purple; and the Malaysian archipelago and Greenland is green. Black lines with interspersed circles of red or yellow are markers for game players to follow and these traverse the entirety of the board. Mainly the colored circles mark place names, generally cities. Other references are to products produced in various locations; lakes and rivers; mountains; and other natural features. There are also representative illustrations, such as a kangaroo in Australia, a palm tree in India, and a dog-drawn sled in Canada. The start or "Home Port" is in southwestern Africa, while the "Pirate's Goal" is in Greenland. Hazards, such as ice storms, typhoons, sandstorms, or being eaten by wolves or cannibals, are in several places. Aside from minor corner dents and a small tear or two at folds, the artifact is in good condition.
