"7. First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Flower and Eighth Sts," Los Angeles, S. J. Milliken [probably Seymour J.], ca. 1890. The image, part of Milliken's "View of Los Angeles and Vicinity" series of sixty-one images, shows the Romanesque Revival church at a corner, with an attached portion (likely the rectory), a separate home, and a three-story commercial structure completing the block. At the let there is a parked horse-and-buggy and portions of Flower and Eighth strees. The reverse gives the series name, list of images, prices, and contact information. There is a stamp from the Hazard-Dyson Collection and a pencil inscription reads "No Neg." A seymour J. Miliken was in the Los Angeles city directory in 1888-90 living on the north side of Second Street and the address on back of the mount is 214 W. 2nd St. With soiling and some fading to the image and soiling, stains, and edgew wear to the mount, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
