Description

Color: Blue; Brown; Green; Red; White; Yellow A color postcard entitled "Picking Lemons Near Whittier, California," ca. 1915. At the center is a dirt path flanked by rows of lemon trees. On the center of the path sits a man in a horse-drawn carriage that is loaded with many crates, while other men stand by the trees and more lemon-filled crates at the left and right. Some look towards the camera while others pick the fruit. Two stand on ladders at the far left and right of the foreground and of the back. All wear hats, gloves, long-sleeve shirts, and have a brown bag over their shoulder in which they carry the lemons. Across the background is a row of tall trees. The title is across the top in black ink. On the top of the back is the name and location of the Pacific Novelty Company as well as a square box for postage. With only light abrasions and creases at the corners, the artifact is in good condition.
