Description
"9970. Los Angeles from the University, California," by Benjamin W. Kilburn and distributed by James L. Davis, ca. 1895. The image appears to be taken from perhaps the State Normal School (now the Central Public Library) and looks eastward. The area is mainly residential with some churches also in view. In the foreground and at the right is landscaping, with the greenery at thh upper left probably constituting Central Park, now Pershing Square. With some soiling, mainly on the matte, which also has edge rubbing, the condition is good.
