Description

A billhead from Wilson, Morrow & Chamberlain, New York, 14 May 1869. The item has a vignette of the company's trademark, consiting of a five-pointed star, a bunch of grapes and grape leaves around the star; the firm name; its business in California wines and brandies, as well as commission merchants; and the address of Morrow and Chamberlain in New York and B.D. Wilson & Co, in San Francisco. Wilson's vineyard at Lake Vineyard in modern San Marino, however, supplied much of the product sold by the firm in its brief existence. The sale was to Morrow for two cases of "L.V. Port," assumed to be "Lake Vineyard Port." With original folds, soiling and creases, the condition is good overall.
