Description

A black and white photograph of a firemen's parade, Hotel Regis, Mexico City, ca. July 1922. The image was taken at an elevated view, looking down on the procession. The photograph was possibly taken by Thomas Temple when the family took a trip to Mexico during the same month and year. Other photographs in the collection show images of Thomas and other Temple family members, as well as Dominga, his cousin from Laura's side of the family. An inscripton on the reverse gives the specific location, parade info, and date. In the middle of the street are firemen lined in a row, near a couple of fire trucks. There are pedestrians standing and looking on with others passing by. There are parked and autombiles driving by the parade. Further back are a row of Spanish Colonial style buildings that house businesses such as a fabric store with a sign "Las Fabricas Universales." There are advertisements for Bohemia Beer, other stores with signs for Continental Tires. There are other store front signs that are obscured by buildings and some that due to fading of the photograph are not discernible. With minor warping, soiling mostly on the reverse with an ink inscription and a photographer's stamp of the number "31", it is in good condition overall.
