Description

A black and white photograph of an elevated view overlooking Rancho de Taos, New Mexico, ca. 1920s. The elevated view shows a large expanse of land dotted with structures, residences, possibly Pueblo Indian settlement with homes, farm land, various shrubs, trees and a mountain range at the background. An inscription on the reverse specifically states that the photo was for Walter P. Temple and gives the location as Rancho de Taos, four miles from Taos, New Mexico. There is also mention that the area was the location where William Workman and John Rowland stayed at for seven years in the 1830s. With minor warping, stains on the reverse, creasing, photographer's stamp of "8134" and "VELOX" and writing in ink, it is in good condition overall.
