Description

A black and white photograph of Nellied Didier posed in front of the fountain in La Casa Nueva Courtyard fountain, Homestead, ca. 1920s. Nellie smiles at the camera. She is in a side pose with her left arm resting on her hip. She wears a shawl, blouse and long skirt. Her hair is pulled back and is styled in a marcel wave. In her other hand she holds a large fan that covers most of her upper body and neck. There are two other women standing off to the side and looking on as Nellie poses for the camera. They both appear to wear Spanish regalia which suggests that the photograph was taken during the St. Joseph's Altar Society gathering at the Homestead during 1928. The second floor patio with exposed wooden rafters, Guest wing, fountain and pottery pieces on the stone mill are visible at the background. With minor fading due to over exposure of sunlight, warping, creasing on the bottom, right corner, soiling and stamp smudge on the reverse, a "VELOX" stamp, it is in good condition.
