Description
A black and white real photo postcard, "Pershing Square / Los Angeles, Cal.," ca. 1920s. Taken from an elevated point south of the park, formerly Central Park, the view shows the diagonal walkways crossing in the center at the fountain. Lawns, trees, benches, light poles and planter beds are also of note and parkgoers are noted throughout. At the top are buildings to the north of the park including the Philharmonic Auditorium and California Club structures. Small two-story residential units at the far left indicate the Biltmore Hotel was not yet completed, placing the date prior to 1923. With some soiling and minor abrasions, the condition is good.
