Description

A black and white stereoscopic photograph "Cathedral - Los Angeles," by A. C. Varela, ca. 1878. The view is from acrsoss Main Street and slightly to the south, taking in the front and southern elevations, as well as the rear bell tower of the structure, completed in 1876 and designed by Ezra F. Kysor, believed to have designed the remodel of the Workman House earlier in the decade. Due to abrasions at the bottom, the title is written in ink and was likely not the printed title for the original, as Varela assigned numbers. With heavy abrasions along the edge, in addition, creases, corner bumping, small stains and soiling, the condition is fair.
