A box (a-b) with contents (c-d) of California ostrich feathers from Cawston Ostrich Farm, South Pasadena, ca. 1890s. The box has a lid and bottom, the top of which on the former has an image of the farm, a detail of an ostrich, and some text about care of the product, as well as the name and location of the farm. Otherwise, the box, which has a white coated paper on the outside and the bottom of which has a paper lace liner, has no further text, though a number is written in colored pencil on one end of the lid. The white feathers are in the box bottom wrapped in tissue paper. With soiling, stains, creases, tears and edge rubbing, the box is in fair condition, while the feathers appear to be in good shape.
