Description

A box of Paris garters, manufactured by A. Stein and Company, Chicago, ca. late 1920s or afterward. The box has a plain white bottom and a red top with a cellophane window, within which is the main label in black including an image of a man attaching his garters. The garters are secured in an inner lining and the shopping tag is still attached, indicating they were never used. The tag is from the J. W. Robinson department store in Los Angeles. While there are 1914 and 1916 patent dates, the word "rayon" is on the box and that term came into usage after 1924, though some of the styling could indicate a later date. With stains, creasing and rubbing on the box, but the garters apparently in pristine condition, the overall condition is good.
