"A Bronco Pegasus," by Charles Lummis (New York and Cambridge: Houghton Mifflin Company and The Riverside Press,) 1928. The 150-page hardcover book of poetry has the title and author's name at the top, between which is a silhouetted image of a cowboy riding a bucking bronco. The title, author's name, and publisher's name are on the spine. There are six sections to the book and the poems reflect Lummis' fascination and work in western American and native American history and culture. There is a preface by Henry Herbert Knibbs and eleven photo illustrations, some by Lummis and others featuring subjects of his poems, of Lummis, and of sites that inspired his work. At the front is an inscription and a photograph of a former owner of the book and on the back is a stamp from a bookstore in Hollywood. With abrasions to the corners of the cover and the spine; overall surface soiling on the cover; some fading of the spine lettering; a few small stains on the cover; two puncture marks and tears on the spine and back cover; some page discoloration; and a bad job cutting the pages, so the book is in fair condition overall.Lexicon
