Description

A business card for Oaks Tavern Cafe, Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. The front has the eatery's address, phone numbers, parking location, president's name and motto. The rear has prices, dance times, and a note about that "Oaks Tavern Supper Club." The inside is a comic permit for a wife to allow her husband "to go where he pleases, drink what he pleases and when he pleases" and "enjoy the company of any lady or ladies," provided that he enjoys life because "for he will be a long time DEAD." Also on the inside is a "Back Seat Driver" license issued by the Tavern's president. With light soiling and minor rubbing, the condition is good.
