Description
A cabinet card of three hunters with a dead deer, Pine Flats, San Gabriel Mountains, 1898. The view shows one man at the right with three rifles positioned on the ground in front of him and the other two carrying a dead deer tied to a rough tree branch and the man at left carrying a dead rabbit in his left hand. The trio stand in a cleared flat area among pine trees and mountain sides. In ink on the reverse is "A days sport / Bringing home the deer / Pine Flats 1898 [written over 1888]." Pine Flats is an old name for the Crystal Lake basin at the back of San Gabriel Canyon. With slight fading and a small stain on the image and soiling, creases and staining to the matte, the condition is fair.
