Description

A cabinet card photograph, "278. Spring Street, Looking North from Second," Los Angeles by Pierce and McConnell, ca. 1890s. The view is from the east side of the street and takes in such landmarks as the Hollenbeck Building, which includes its namesake hotel, the Hotel Nadeau, the county court house, the Baker Block and areas near the Temple Block near where Spring curves to the right at the triple intersection of Spring, Temple and Main streets. On Spring are a streetcar, horse-drawn conveyances and some pedestrians. With soiling, losses to two corners of the mount, which also has soiling, stains, and abrasion, the overall condition is fair.
