Description
A cabinet card photograph, "50. Cathedral," Los Angeles, Stanton and Burdick, ca. 1889. The view is from the east side of Main Street between Second and Third and takes in the front and south elevations of St. Vibiana's Cathedral with its Neoclassical front and its rear bell tower. Also in view is the fnced residence to the right and a portion o a commercial building to the left, as well as a part of Main. The photographer's names and address are printed at the bottom of the mount. On the reverse are stamps with the number and title and the name and address of Souder Brothers book and stationery store. With minor abrasions at the upper right edge, some stains, primarily at the upper left, and soiling on the image and foxing, and curvature of the matte, the general condition is fair.
