A cabinet card photograph, "53. Hill St. Near First, Looking Southeast," James B. Blanchard, Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. The image was taken near some residences atop the hill and looks across the city looking southeast, including the then-City Hall, churches, commercial structures, and residences. On the back is a pencil inscription noting that the image was one of other images that a woman took home from a trip to the western United States. Blanchard's printed cartouche is also there. With soiling, some stains, curvature of the mount, and edge abrasions, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
