Description
A cabinet card photograph, "#57 Sugar Loaf, Avalon, Catalina Isl'd, Cal.," Munsey, ca. 1890s. The view shows the steep rocky outcropping, which has a set of stairs climbing its side to the summit, on which a few people are discerned. To the right a steamship is in the water. This formation was later removed for the construction of the casino built by William Wrigley, Jr. and completed in 1929. The number, title and photographer's surname are in white at the bottom and the image is pasted down to a gray photo album page. With warping and minor soiling, the condition is good.
