Description
A cabinet card photograph, "#61 Long Wharf Santa Monica Cal.," Munsey, ca. 1898. The image was taken from the beach at some distance from the south, the view looks northward towards the wharf, built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in the early 1890s and which emanated from the cliffs that are visible at the right. The beach in the foreground is deserted and there are no structures or improvements visible anywhere. The photo is mounted onto album paper and, with some curvature, white material at the lower right and light soiling, the condition is good.
