Description
A cabinet card photograph, "69 Galley Stairs of Old San Gabriel Mission," unattributed, ca. 1890s. The view is taken from a few feet west of the old stone stairs which are the east end of the south elevation and lead up to the choir loft. An iron grille is at the top of the steps and there is a fence section and other debris at the base of the wall. In the distance behind a wood fence is a building with a sign indicating it was a lumber yard and which was situated just east of the mission. With warpping, major vertical creases at the area right of center, and edge yellowing, the overall condition is good.
