Description
A cabinet card photograph of a coach from Throop Polytechnic University, Tournament of Roses, Pasadena, E. F. Kohler, 1 January 1892. The view shows a group of women wearing white dresses and many holding parasols atop a horse-drawn carriage with floral decorations. A couple of men, dressed in medieval-looking attire, flank the coach. A pencil inscription at the bottom reads, "Throop Pol. Institute Coach, Rose Tournament, January 1st 1892." Written in pencil on the reverse is "Rose Parade 1892," that being the third year of the event. Throop is now the California Institute of Technology. The upper left corner is missing and there is edge abrasions, moderate fading and minor soiling, so the overall condition is fair.
