Description
A cabinet card photograph of a fire hydrant test, Western Avenue and 47th Street, Los Angeles, Otto Kerner, 2 May 1909. The view shows men at the hydrant at the right and with a length of house extended far out into the street. Some bystanders including men, women and children observe what appears to be a test conducted by residents. A few similar looking bungalows line the street, presumably Western, at the right. On the back is Kerner's stamp and a date stamp. Pencil inscriptions give the surname of the residents of the first and second houses and the location. With moderate fading, some staining, soiling and minor edge rubbing, the condition is fair.
